Bumper vs toploader: which protection for your cards?
A TCG card is coated paper and ink. Toploader for bulk, Anzena bumper to show, filter UV and display — and how to insert it.

A Pokémon, Magic or One Piece card is not a “plastic” object. It is a sheet of coated board: fibres, clay coat, offset or holo ink. The slightest grease, crease or UV shows. The toploader and the bumper do not solve the same problem.
Why a raw card is fragile
Standard TCG board (about 63 × 88 mm) is made to be held, not to last fifty years in the light. Oxidised holo ink, a whitening edge, a crushed corner: mechanical and chemical damage. Fingers leave sebum that attacks the varnish. Sun breaks pigments. A binder packed too tight marks the relief of a full art.
A PVC toploader stops the card folding in a bag. It barely filters UV, it scratches, it yellows, and it is not made to be shown or hung. Perfect for bulk. Not enough as soon as a card has value.

What really damages the card
- Creases and corners: irreversible, noted immediately by a grader.
- Fingerprints: greasy film, then halos on the holo.
- UV: fading of the illustration, yellow on the white of the frame.
- Heat + humidity: haze, sticking in a sleeve, warping.
- A scratched toploader that rubs the surface on every in-and-out.
What the Anzena bumper adds
The bumper is an acrylic presentation shell. You slide the card (or the slab) in once, then you no longer touch it. Pane filtering +96 % of UV, shock-resistant frame, 11 colours, FlexLock option for the wall.
- Premium presentation, not a storage consumable.
- UV filter +96 %.
- Calibrated for PSA / PCA / CCC holders or TCG / photo formats.
- Compatible with FlexLock + FlexWall.
How to insert a raw card
Keep toploaders for volume. Move to a bumper as soon as the card must be shown.
- 01Clean hands (or cotton gloves): the card no longer has to meet your fingers afterwards.
- 02Open the bumper, slide the card flat until it seats, face visible.
- 03Click shut. The card must no longer slide.
- 04Soft sleeve: only if it enters without forcing — otherwise, bare card in the bumper.
