Protecting a graded PSA, PCA or CCC card
Why a slab is not complete protection: holder scratches, UV, fingerprints. How the Anzena bumper wraps PSA, PCA or CCC, and how to insert it.

A graded card already has a holder: clear plastic, label, grade. Many stop there. Yet the slab is not a display case: it is an encapsulated certificate. It scratches, it greases, it yellows in the light — and every handling rubs the grader’s acrylic.
What a holder really is
PSA, PCA or CCC encapsulate the card between two sealed shells. The card no longer comes out: that is the point of the grade. The holder, however, remains an object you pick up, set down, slide into a box. Its outer surface is an optical plastic — the same kind of material that takes micro-scratches from a keyring or a table.
Inside, the card is not “safe from everything”. UV still passes largely through a standard slab. Paper and ink keep ageing, more slowly than in open air, but cumulatively. Heat expands the plastic and can, over time, favour haze or a peeling label.

What damages a graded card every day
- Fingerprints and greasy film: every hand leaves a deposit on the slab. Over time the holder turns dull.
- Micro-scratches: pockets, drawers, other slabs. A scratched holder lowers perceived value, even if the grade does not change.
- Shocks and drops: slab corners that chip, a crumpled label, a card that shifts in the cavity.
- UV and window sun: fading of the illustration, yellowing of the paper. Irreversible.
- Heat (radiator, poorly ventilated case, car): the plastic softens, hazes, sometimes warps.
What the Anzena bumper changes
The bumper is an acrylic shell calibrated around the holder — a PSA format, a PCA format, a CCC format, not an “approximate” fit. You no longer touch the slab: you hold the bumper. The Anzena pane filters more than 96 % of UV. The frame stiffens and absorbs shocks. The piece stays fully readable, grade included.
- You handle the bumper, not the grader’s holder.
- UV filter +96 % on the exposed face.
- Anti-marks, anti-dust, everyday anti-scratch.
- Standard, Crystal or FlexLock (magnetic) back depending on the format.
- Made in France.
How to insert the holder
Never force the slab. If it resists, it is the wrong grader.
- 01Open the bumper by separating the frame — no screwdriver, no forcing the clips.
- 02Slide the slab to the bottom, label at the top, card face readable. It must sit flush, not on a bias.
- 03Close until the click: no play left.
- 04From now on, take out, show and store only by the bumper.

From the drawer to the wall
With a FlexLock back, the bumper sits on the FlexFrame. The collection leaves the binder without taking the holder apart. Avoid direct sun on the wall: the UV filter is not a south-facing licence.
FAQ
Does the bumper replace the PSA holder?+
No. It adds around it. The grade remains the grader’s. The bumper protects the slab and the card it contains.
Can I display a graded card in the sun?+
Avoid it. Even with a +96 % UV filter, heat and direct light stay aggressive.
Will a PCA bumper fit a PSA?+
No. Dimensions and corners differ. Each Anzena bumper is dedicated to one grader.
