Laser engraving on a bumper: possibilities and limits

Personalising a bumper is not printing on the card. Marking the paper, sticking a sticker or engraving the grader’s slab destroys value. The Anzena laser marks only the acrylic that protects — then you insert the piece as usual.

Why we do not engrave the card

Ink, holo, Polaroid chemistry, PSA label: these are irreversible surfaces. A pen, a vinyl, an engraving on the grader’s holder, and the grade or the souvenir is hit. The bumper acrylic is the only layer made to be marked: the beam removes a tiny layer of the pane, away from the clips.

What damages if you personalise badly

• Writing or sticking on the card: grease, chemistry, loss of grade.
• Engraving the PSA/PCA/CCC holder: a permanent scratch on the certificate.
• A logo that is too dense and poorly placed: the card’s readability hidden, clips weakened if you engrave the edges.
• Fingers, UV, shocks: unchanged if the piece is not in the bumper.

What Anzena engraving allows

Short text, a date, a simple motif on the UV-filtering pane. The card stays intact. Engraved piece: non-returnable. A dense logo or club series: vector file via Factory.

• Engraving away from assembly edges.
• Lead time = French-made manufacturing of the bumper.
• Accessory FlexLock: no engraving.
• The same UV + anti-mark protection once the card is inserted.

Insert after engraving

Orient the engraving so it stays readable once the piece is seated (often at the bottom of the pane).

1. 01Open the engraved bumper by separating the frame.
2. 02Slide the card or slab, face toward the pane, until it seats.
3. 03Click shut — the engraving must not jam the clip.
4. 04Handle the bumper, not the original.
